Youth will learn about sedimentation and make a layered pop-up box to visually demonstrate the sediment layers that accumulated on the earth over thousands of years, as well as what types of fossils might be found on each layer.

Youth are challenged to match the corresponding fossils and environments with the information they have available. Youth will create environments themselves and place the correct fossils in the right environment, learning about where certain fossils are from and how to identify them.

Youth will create their own rocks to investigate how sediment becomes molded together to form rock. Youth will also learn how bones, rocks and other debris become fossils after sediment hardens.

Youth will learn about the timeline of the history of the Earth, then make their own timeline to scale and predict when important events occurred.
