Youth will create a capsule in either a small box or envelope. The capsule will include a picture of themselves, and a small letter about who they are when they wrote it.

Youth will learn a bit about some past inventions, and what inventions may look like in the future. Youth will brainstorm ways that humans plan for the future and ways we can keep our Earth healthy for years to come.

Youth will learn about excavation techniques, then do their own virtual excavation!

Youth will learn about the basics of archeology and what famous artifacts were used for.

Youth will learn about archaeology by setting up their own dig site! They will take detailed notes about their dig site and will learn how excavating artifacts is a destructive process.

Youth will be using simulated tree core samples to infer climatic characteristics of the past and learn how researchers continue to use these useful tools today.

Youth will learn about the scientific naming system and its importance. Then they will try to guess the organism that has a specific scientific name.

In this activity, youth will compare different methods of preservation in various environments to see which one is the most effective, and will have the chance to preserve their own

Youth will learn about sedimentation and make a layered pop-up box to visually demonstrate the sediment layers that accumulated on the earth over thousands of years, as well as what types of fossils might be found on each layer.

Youth will put together a fossil bone puzzle, create their own dinosaur skeleton and assemble the rest of it to reflect it’s physical design.

Youth will create their own rocks to investigate how sediment becomes molded together to form rock. Youth will also learn how bones, rocks and other debris become fossils after sediment hardens.

Youth will learn about the timeline of the history of the Earth, then make their own timeline to scale and predict when important events occurred.
